Lowering an '05 GMC Sierra

I've got an '05 GMC Sierra 4x4, 4.3L, regular cab. I don't want to go crazy, just take up some of the slack in the rear. If I remove the stock lifting blocks in the rear will I need angled shims to keep the pinion angle in correct?

Also, supposedly with a torsion bar front end, people say I can just loosen the adjuster bolts to lower the front. Is this true for my truck?

Thanks.
