Just scored the replacement.....63 custom cab, bbw !!!
Well fellas...after selling the 'Chief' I was really down...everytime I walked into the shop...there was a vacancy...so something had to be done !!
Here's the story: I called the guy up who had that $1500 '63m on CL...he still had it. So I made a plan to go pick it up yesterday around lunch time. It was located near Watsonville...a small town called Freedom...about an 70-80 mile round trip. Turns out, he and his pops own a used car lot, so I was told to meet him there, so I did. When I got there, I waited for about 15 mins, then he shows up. "Follow me, the truck is at the body shop!"...ok so I did. About 10 miles later, we leave pavement, and I'm bouncing around in my super-duty, with my trailer behind me (with fresh rubber on it)along this farm road....Bodyshop ?? Anyway, after passing many fields, cows, bulls, etc... We come upon what looks like where Vin Diesal would be stripping cars...A bunch of crap, and a group of Mexican guys beating on cars...AKA The BODY SHOP !!! At this point, I was like...I'M GONNA GET JACKED BACK HERE !!! - - It was just an area where these guys were painting cars...in the middle of no where, working in dirt, with make-shift tarps everywhere....Turns out, they were all hella cool. - - So, I parked the F@rd, and we walked another...200 or so feet to the open grave...I mean where the truck was..."Here's the truck..." At first glance, your like "What the ?" Your always excited, and expect something super cool....So I start checking it out: - - - - Grills a little dingy, but work-able I thought... - - - - The cab trims looked good, and theres the steering wheel I always wanted: - - Optioned with two visors, and a mirror: - - Here's the only crappy part....some ghetto 'popcorn' welding on the floor. The rockers look good though, but the floor was wasted...especially the R/S...the rubber floor was intact, and tucked under the threshold plate..so this must of trapped moisture for years... -
