Adding power steering and brakes?
We're about to tow the new shop truck into the shop for a major refresh over the winter alongside the Disaster. It's a 64-66 GMC 930, so I guess it's a one ton? It's got 8 lug wheels, an operational trans driven hoist, an inline 6 and a farmer 4 speed.
As a hot rodder of sorts, this stock nonsense confused the heck out of me so here's a list of simple questions -I have the power steering box and pump off a 77ish chevy 1/2 ton. I see CPP make a kit to hook up the box to the frame and the original column to the later power box, but how do I hook the power steering pump to the inline 6? Is there a stock bracket off something that works, aftermarket support, or just fabrication on my part? -I also have the power brake booster and split-pot master cylinder off of the 77 that I'd like to donate to the cause on this project and again, can it be mounted in a simple fashion, and is the fact that it came off a disc/drum truck and is going on to a drum/drum truck going to make any difference? -I see offy make an intake for a 4bbl carb, and hedman make a split header for the old 6. Are parts like these worth putting on, or am I better off just sticking with stock? The original carb looks pretty weak, and if I'm building something I'd rather build a small carter AFB or Edelbrock for it, unless of course the old stocker is that good. Thanks, I think that's it for now.
