2" rear brakes... outrageous prices?
I've got a '75 rear end (6 bolt wheels) under my '68 4x4. It has the 2" wide shoes instead of the more common 2-3/4". The glued on brake lining came off BOTH shoes on one side, even though they are nowhere near worn out. The wheel cylinder blew out as a result. So I thought I'd do everything right and swung by O'reallys tonight to get new shoes, cylinders, spring kits and drums. My drums would probably clean up fine, but I thought why not just get new, they can't be too pricey. Yeah right- over $100 each! I said I don't think so- but get me the shoes & other stuff. Nogo on the shoes, the warehouse didn't even have them!
It wasn't all that many years ago I would have just walked into a REAL parts store and left with EVERYTHING for around $150. Geez, this isn't 1 ton Studebaker stuff
