I must have been lucky, mine popped loose easily with the pickle fork, and the lowers popped out of the control arm with a good hammer smack. Probably SC frame vs. an IN frame.
Have you actually gotten it apart yet? Make sure you at least have a jack under the lower control arm so the spring can't shoot out at you, then you slowly lower the tension on the spring and it will fall out.
