1974 SWB Step Project
So ive finally decided to make a build thread...
History: In 1974 this truck was purchased by my fathers father. My grandfather. He stopped by a GM lot one day and decided to buy it. It came with: 4bolt main 350, swb stepside, no ac, bucket seats, wood-vynal, brown on yellow. In the 80's the orij. motor was getting tired so my gpaw bought a crate stock replacement. And set the orij. on the side. Besides exhaust it was never upgraded... In just 9 years it was time for a rebuild....again. So my uncil built the motor up (1989) and it still runs to this day.. he installed everything to last, foregided pistons; fully ballanced and line bored 0.40 over, 327 corvette heads, hi-volume oil pump, slightly larger stall converter.... In 2008: I was handed down the truck. Recently It has been fouling plugs, yet keeping compression... so im guessing pluged oil return /w/ worn valve seals... When we removed the valve cover we find a leaf in the rear oil return !! ......after months of talking my uncil says to me "...hey, you know i got a posi unit and cam kit in the garage right??" and here he are!! When i got it in 08' Got some new rubber: (cooper generic brand, 600aprox)275-60-15's Decided the old truck smell was not complementing my girlfriends perfume... so striped and re did the interior. Come to find out, a bottle of atf years ago slowly leaked while in the center con. and soaked into the carpet and saved alot from rust. (hense the nasty smell) All cleaned up, sanded, washed, de-greased Got some free house foam for carpet... works great as sound deadner..and feels awesome on your feet!!! Done.....for now... Color change! More pics tommoro!! Last edited by spinem; 03-27-2010 at 01:56 AM. |
