new to the site

Hi guys, I'm new to the site. Looked it over, pretty cool site! This is my truck, its an '80 C10 "big 10" or heavy half ton. I got it from the second owner who got it from the family. Its an original California truck that has 110K miles on it. Before that I had a K5 on 1 tons. This is only my second square body, but I have always wanted a truck like this since I was in high school.

It has the 12 bolt rear end, and currently an SM465 trans. That is coming out here in a few weeks. It has a mildly built 350 with an Edelbrock performer carb and intake, Elgin cam. I recently did 1 3/4 inch stainless headers custom built by a friend, along with a 2 1/2 duals with an x-pipe all in stainless with Magnaflow mufflers. I cleaned up some stuff in the engine bay, cleaned up the engine, changed out the valve covers and made plug wires, Changed out the coil/cap/rotor and changed my dizzy springs and vacuum advance. I also bolted up the Rally wheels with flat caps 15x8 front, and 15x10 rear with 295/50/15. It has spindles and springs in the front, and an axle flip in the back. Originally the truck was black, but the first owner was a body guy, so it had a really good repaint, bed off and everything in the mid 90's. Paint is single stage and takes some work to keep shinny, it sits in my garage mostly and I drive it on the weekends. Here is my to-do list

Swap the square lights for 79-80 round lights (I need buckets and turn signals if you have them forsale!)

swap the SM465 with a 3 groove Saginaw (I know its not the strongest, but the swap is going to be pretty cheap and it will be a year of easy driving until I build the 388 at which time I will stick a Muncie behind it)

build my 388. I got almost all the parts together for it. I just need to buy a set of heads, manifold and carb. I'm gonna go AFR's heads, not sure on the size yet though

Redo the interior. It is currently the OEM white/grey. I will redo everything in black. I will also be swapping in a full Autometer gauge set, losing the A/C (its already half gone) and heater core (its socal, I don't need heat and the wife can wear a jacket!)

I'm going to do tubular upper and lower arms, the OEM ones are about done.

Line-X the bed

That should get it going pretty well.

Me? I'm a LONG time VW guy, air and water cooled. Nothing beats Detroit iron and I got sick of the VW and euro scene. I have worked for BMW though for the last 10 years as a mechanic, VW/Audi before that. My other cars include the 335 diesel in the garage (425ftlbs torque!) and my wifes 328i sport coupe. Enjoy the pics!

Mike
