NP208...possibly blown?
I was heading home today in my 6.2 diesel GMC, hubs still locked, in 2hi, going about 60. It started being bogged down and making bad bearing noise. I stopped at a gas station, pulled it into 4hi, backed up a foot, weent forward a foot, put it back in 2hi, unlocked the hubs, and it was fine. I got about 6 miles and as I pulled up to a stop light, the oise came back and I had no drive. no 2hi, no 4hi. I fought it into 4lo and drove another 2 miles [now on back roads], pulled over, got it into 2hi and got another 1,000 yds. and had to put it back in 4lo.
It's home now, I got it into 2hi, but only drove it forward and backward about 100 yds. each, it remained fine. Also when it was "in" 2hi but not moving, if I pushed as far forward on the lever as I could, it felt like trying to shift a Muncie into granny gear while moving, without the noise. The truck has a 700R trans, 10-bolt open front, 10-bolt welded posi rear [welded because the govlock failed lol] and they're a 3:08 ratio. Any diagnosis before I look into this?
