Repairing suburban tail light sockets
Hey guys,
I thought I would post how I repaired my suburban tail light sockets for any other people that ran into the same problem I did. I could not find anyone that made the factory sockets for the suburban, so I made my own. I bought two sockets from Carquest (p/n 57-4846), they only cost a couple bucks each. I used a set of pliers to pull out the factory socket from the lamp housing (just twist them out, there are two little dimples holding them in). In the first pic, the housing on the left has the new socket installed. The right one is the empty "tube" where the old socket used to be. You can see the plug on the right, that is the factory plug. I forgot to get a pic of what the OG socket looked like before I removed it. Sorry. In this pic the socket is just pushed into the housing and it fits just tight enough to keep itself there. But in order to get it in there, you have to file off the two little dimples I mentioned before that used to hold the old socket in place. This is a super easy retrofit. I tried to get a close up of the new socket installed I hope this helps y'all out. -Cort
