For the bed, I believe the stepside beds were the same from the 50's all the way till 1987. The only difference is the fenders on them and maybe the steps too...not sure on the steps. Since they were made so long that increases your chances of finding a good one, then you just have to find some year/style appropriate fenders to attach.

I've been searching pics on e-bay and other places since I read your post. It looks? like the beds, except fenders, are close to the same up thru '53. I think in '54 or '55, GM flattened the top rails of the bed horizontal. '53 back still had the top rails (lips) sitting at about a 45 degree angle. I'm anxious to get out and measure some. I have 30" from rear of cab to center of axle to work with. I wouldn't mind building some diamond plate running boards, (steps) front to back when we get final lengths figured out. Would like to have matching rear fenders.
Thanks for the lead. I'd like to get a pickup bed on there that'd look half way decent.
