Need help with vacuum leak at Holley 4412 with Mr. Gasket adapter

Hi Guys,

So I used the adapter plate as specified on Jolly's page, ordered from Jegs, to mount my Holley 4412 to my intake. The way I did it was:
- I put a gasket on the intake, placed the stainless bolts facing thread up on that
-put the adapter plate on top, using the included black allen screws to secure the adapter plate to the intake
-then put the second gasket over that and placed the carb on top
-used the stainless washers and nuts to tighted the carb down

I have a vacuum leak in the very front of the carb, when facing it. I am not sure if it is from the intake to adapter plate, or from the adapter plate to carb body.

I don't like the way the allen screws hold down the adapter plate. They actually cut into the aluminum (should be able to see this in the third photo) and seem like the heads are too small to actually not allow for some rocking or movement. I've included some photos. Am I doing something wrong here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
