couple dumb questions
Like I said, this is a dumb question but its driving me nuts. I am going through my Dana 44, open diff. I took the cover off the diff and all the gears, ring and pinion and side gears, all look to be in good shape, I can turn the pinion by hand, but it seems to have a catch in it, always in the same place, this kind of bothers me, but the bearings and everything look good. Is there possibly a tight spot in there somewhere that is causing it to catch?
The other question, I lock the hubs and I can turn the rotor, and the oposite rotor will turn, but the pionion yoke wont turn. is this an issue? I know that if I turn the pinion while holding one rotor, the other will turn since its an open diff, but I dont know that you can turn one rotor and watch the other tunr and not see the pinion yoke move. I am just trying to make sure this assembly is in good order before I put it under my truck. Erik
