I would personally weld it, grind it flat and plate it. We done lots and lots here with no issues.

If you do find one unbroke, we always used large flat washers on the inside and never had them break.

BTW please remember that the frame is the same on a 4x2 so they are prone to crack also. I have had 2 of them that were. On one, the box came completely out, much to the suprise of the owner. Of course the 32 inch tires that he had run on the truck forever had something to do with it...
