coil shock springs add-on
I have a 1957 swb stock front end, 454ci, just installed the sway bars, new shocks, and now I would like to put coil springs on the shocks to prevent the front end bottoming out when I hit a dip.
The driver side shock will not accommodate a coil spring because it hits the steering knuckle (if that is what it is called), in other words there is not enough clearance between the knuckle and the spring clamps if they were installed. There is not enough distance on the lower part of the shock to raise the clamp above the knuckle because the upper dust cover comes down that far. Does anyone have an adapter for the shock mount so that I could move the lower shock mount forward? The passenger side will fit just fine when I cut the spring down. Would there be a problem if just the passenger side had a spring coil on the shock? I believe there would, however, what is your opinion? Thanks, Larry |
