question

do 1973-87 chevy trucks come with a filter from the gas tank to the fuel pump stock from the factory and if so where is it located?my truck over the last few days from time to time will one run funny and will stall out after driving for a few feet.cant see anything that looks like a fuel filter inline from the tank to the pump.i did see this one thing on the passenger side of the frame that has two ends threaded into it and its about a half inch to an inch long and about as big around as someone's ring finger.could that possibly be it.there are two rubber lines that come from the tank and they connect to steel line and right after they connect and travel for a few inches then there is a 3rd piece of metal line which threads into the object i just mentioned and then another piece threads into the other end and then runs up the remaining length of frame.im stumped here.please help or gimme some ideas
