I admit I have a problem!
My name is Squirrel and I am addicted to collecting vintage muscle cars!
I just scored a 70 C-10 Short Step from the original owners grandson! I have the original sales receipt, owners manual, warranty card, and Protecto plate(?). Her name is Charlotte Body is solid, engine is a 305 (not confirmed numbers don't show up on any engine search web sites L5 _ _ unreadable). It has the small harmonic balancer like the 327 (guy I bought it from said it was a 305, but he also told me it was turbo charged due to the large Eldelbrock carburetor??) It was originally a 6 banger, but now the sbc is dressed with edelbrock 600 carb, intake, valve covers, and camel hump heads. After much TLC she runs real good (seems to red line at 50 MPH LOL) Originally three on the tree It now has a three speed floor shift (Saginaw(sp?) with 12 bolt open diff rear (373 gears). I spent the last two days changing out all the fluids, flushing the fuel system, rebuilding the carb. During the first test drive the master cylinder went out. I purchased a re-manufactured one and just spent way too long bleeding the brakes. Short version: Primed the new manual master cylinder bled the rear drivers side, rear pass side, front pass side all went smooth. When I got to the drivers front it had a ton of air, after one hour we made no progress(actually seemed to get worse). We would loose press then get it back then loose it again. Fluid is bursting out and burping (line is not plugged), but it as if we are sucking in more air than fluid. There are no leaks in any of the lines leading to to front passenger side and we never ran it dry up top. Last clue is ... When we removed the cap to check the reservoir the rear reservoir was milky (filled with air). So, did I buy a lemon master cylinder or can a collapsed rubber line leading to the drivers side front caliper cause this? Would appriciate some mentoring! I am still stoked to have this old girl but she is stubborn as all get out. Any advice or compliments welcome.
