GN 9" rearend
I'm going to post this to suspension because I post this to those who see a benefit to going with a full floater rearend.
Do many/any of you guys run a GN style Ford 9" rearend with full floater axles? These housings are stocked by quite a few places with threaded housing ends for floater hubs, and GN stuff is so well supported and cheap I don't see why not. Speedway has a kit that had everything but the calipers, brackets, and the center section for like $650. A lot of us are going with the aftermarket panhard bar's anyway, and the width at 60" is pretty in the ballpark of stock if I'm not mistaken. They're 5 on 5 hubs too. I guess the one thing that would be difficult is the parking brake would be hard/impossible to do (not a big deal to me not to have a parking brake). What are the down sides? The upsides I see are: a simi affordable 9" housing, full floaters are more reliable in case of axle breaking and road racing applications, no brake kickback issues seen with c-clip axles. I've always thought this idea would be great if you wanted to have a couple pumpkins for taking autocross/road racing with some 3:73 gears ect , and another with a spool and some 4:10's since swapping them would be pretty easy. |
