Gas smell - found problem, what's the solution?

So I went to my truck today to get something out and it smelled like someone poured gas all inside the truck. I moved the seat as far forward as I could and I pulled the carpet up and found that the center of the tank is wet all under the sending unit. Here is my question, is the top cap connected directly to the sending unit? The reason I ask is because it looks like the hard line on top of the tank may be cracked around its base. Does that require replacement of the entire sending unit and if so can it be done with the seat in the truck? Where would be the best place to pick up the part I need?
