Good day junkyarding
There is a junkyard in a nearby town that is crushing everything older than '94. They advertised on the radio, "$25 for whatever you can carry out the gate." I got a Metro engine (those things are heavier than they look!), a NICE van tilt column, lots of door locks & a couple ignition locks (planning on re-keying them), a nice A/C control with cables, a Chevy hubcap, & GMC hubcap, & several odds & ends for $50 (two trips). Oh, did I forget to mention that I think I found original rear tow hooks too! At least they look like the ones in the brochure. I'll post pics later to get your opinions on that.
My brother went with me (he just bought a '70 C10). He got a power brake setup, helper leaf springs, some A/C parts, door handles, & lots of odds & ends for $25. If I had been thinking and had taken my pickle fork, he would have gotten a power steering setup too. The really good news is that I told the owner, "It would be a real shame to crush those old Chevy pickups." and he said that he didn't think he was going to crush them. He had a lot of the '60-'66 body style ones too, even a four wheel drive. If anyone nearby wants to go, they are in Snowflake and their number is 536-2002. The $25 sale ends on Saturday.
