? on the ls swap (carberated) on the alt wiring?

The engine is a 2000 gmc,5.3, the alternator is 105 amp....4 pins on the alternator, but just the charge wire, & 1 wire to the B pin on top. From what I read, the wire on the plug needs a 1/2 watt, 470 ohm resister, to switched wire, to cut the voltage down? Soldered in, it might knock a couple volts off the read....is that enough, to make it work & keep the regulator from smoking? Longhorn
