Brake fluid flush

Well, when I was in the process of moving my fuel lines plus the unexpected brake line. The brake fluid drained all out of the front reservoir on the master cylinder. I went to look at it and there was all the nasty looking sediment stuff in the bottom of the reservoir. I wiped it out with a thick clean paper towel and it all came out.

What Im wondering is there any type of chemical I could use to clean the brake lines out with that wouldn't interfere with the brake fluid and rubber seals? I Just want to get the majority of this sediment stuff cleaned out and it was way over do for a complete brake fluid change. I know I cant get a 100% of it but would like to get as much of it as possible.

Anyone know what the button on the proportioning valve does? I vaguely remember something about it and it was pretty important. Like you wouldn't be able to fully bleed your brakes if all the fluid was out? Something like that.
