Door Triggers/Switches

I am getting ready to install an alarm on my 66 GMC. I need to install door triggers. While I'm at it I'm going to wire the dome light into the triggers as well. I'm sure people have installed triggers/switches before. What is the easiest way to get it done? Photos would be great. It looks like it may be easier to put the switch in the door rather than the cab. Has anyone tried that? Let me know what you did. Thanks.
