Plastic/Rubber fabrication
What pro/DIY methods and materials do you all use to repair/fabricate the non-metal plastic or rubber parts on our trucks?
Things like rubber tailgate bumper grommets, dash board bezel, wiper knobs, bumper impact strips, door panels, etc.. How to add-to/fabricate them. Examples: For instance, if I'd like to repair the broken/worn blinker-light arrow holes on the dashboard by adding melted plastic and shaping it. Find out what the rubber tailgate bumpers are made of so I can I have the right material to form my own seal between a bed box and the frame. Or the front bumper impact-strip: What is it made of (plastic obviously, but what kind)? I might be doing some modifications to the bumper (probably with a Dremel tool) and so the edge of the IS won't have the cut-out in the bumper to plug into. Is there a way to add more plastic to the IS in an attempt to create screw-sockets? That way I could screw through the bumper and into the IS. Yeah, I'm rambling here. Just trying to figure this out. Thanks. IM |
