New member,truck pics
Hello, new member here. Got ahead of myself and started asking questions before posting a little intro. So these are my trucks. I bought them over a year ago, but they have been on the backburner while I was building a house. I finally got the "good" one home and have been accumulating some parts in anticipation of my new garage build this spring. The "good" truck is an almost rustfree 62 GMC roller that came out of texas and was last registered in 1988. Along with it I got a complete 64 GMC parts truck and about 2 bedloads of other parts. My plan is to do kind of the old shop truck theme using a picture of my Grandpa's 64 Chevy Deep Rock Service truck as inspiration. The original blue paint is still under that coat of primer, so I am trying to figure out a way I can just get the primer off without doing too much damage to the base coat and use it as is. If anyone has any ideas on this speak up. I've tried using some acetone, which worked a little, but too slow and denatured alcohol. I am assuming the base is laquer, so laquer thinner is out. The night before last I scored a low mileage 98 Vortec motor and I plan to run a tremec 5 speed. This will probably be a long slow project, since I have to get my garage done before I can do any major work.
So here is the "good" truck Here is the poor old 64 parts truck, complete, but not a good piece of sheetmetal on her, typical of a lifelong IL vehicle Thanks for looking and for the help I've already had, Jeremy |
