Having a starting problem

Ive been driving my C20 lately and took it out for a spin last night to see how my lights and stuff all work and when i got back i parked it for a few minutes then tried to start it again and now the only way it will stay running is if i hold the key in the start position and leave the starter spinning. As soon as I let off the ignition it dies. Anyone ever experience this issue? Cant move it much when i have to hold the key in the start position for it to run,
