1965 C-10 re-introduction

Hello All,

It has been a while since I've posted here. I recently had time to rekindle the passion that I once had for working on my 1965 c10.

About 4 years ago I drove my truck to work and essentially burned up a lot of the wiring (poor insulation/fuse block issue) that had been done by the previous owner and almost immediately after that moved for work, storing the truck at my parents house. After moving back to Houston and the truck still sitting for a few years I decided that it was time to get it running again.

A friend and I rewired the truck completely with a painless wiring kit. This is essentially complete aside from a few odds and ends. Additionally, the truck had been converted to a floor-shift after the transmission was swapped (I'm assuming) with a cheap b&m shifter/linkage. This floor shifter is very sloppt and since the old shift linkage from the column shift is still there I reconnected it and found some shift lever arms that look like they're going to work properly. It will be interesting to see, as I have a Chevrolet 341 transmission, not a Saginaw or Muncie.

I have a couple of questions that maybe some of you could point me in the right direction on:

1. I have a mechanical coolant temperature gauge, and I'm not sure how to hook it up again. (I don't remember if it was working before)

2. I connected all the shift linkage to the column shift and to the transmission. Can I just follow these instructions: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=215307

Or is there something else that I need to do first?

Thanks for the help guys.
