Door Glass Run Question

My 67 upper door glass run/felt is cracked and broken. I purchased some replacements from GMC Paul. When I went to change it, I noticed the factory seal goes way down into the door along a track. Also, the shape of the seal guides down this v-shaped channel. The new square channel fits great on the upper sections but doesn't fit in the v-channel run at all. Do I need to purchase 2 separate pieces to seal the upper as well as the lower v? The new square piece isn't near as long as the factory one i'm removing. I'm fairly sure I'm missing something simple. I put the original back in for now but the window binds when rolling it up and down. Still surprised how much you learn while working on our trucks...

Attached are the shape that goes into the V-channel of my door, the Square one I purchased and an approx coverage the new square one has on my door.
