Steel glove box insert
I found this last year at a pick a part in a 63 I believe, it was under the seat. Looks like it was tig welded without rod - just flash welded. I bought it for $3...need to get it installed after I fix my heater controls.
I also grabbed another glove box door for the new latch, then will sell the door. My original black and gray one has had a 'custom' latch that my uncle made in the mid 70's. It has worked ever since and opens every time. The trick is to close it normally, then to open you give it a light karate chop to the lower part of the door...opens perfectly. Hard to believe its worked this way without any adjustment for 40 yrs....but soon it will be replaced wit the original parts |
