Spare tire mount on a 4x4: Am I doing it right?

I got bored this morning so I dug out the spare tire mount I purchased from the Classifieds last year and installed it. The installation was more straightforward than I feared, and I didn't miss on any of the holes I drilled into the bed side.

My concern is with the spacing of the wheel, or more to the point the lack of spacing. Does the side mounted tire contact any part of the fender or bed when installed, or should it be somewhat proud? I haven't purchased my spare tire yet, but I wonder if I should go to the trouble of installing longer studs and spacers.

Or am I overthinking this?
