Door Lock Cylinder Replacement - 66 C10

Hey guys, I just installed a pair of door lock cylinders from LMC and thought I'd make a post showing the steps I did to make them work in the original handles. I knew something was wrong when I did the first one and couldn't get the key to work. Some searching found that others had to modify them to get them to work right but no pictures or anything.

I held the new one and the old one up side by side and noticed that the flats were a lot longer on the new units.

I marked the new one at the same length of the original

I cut the flats with my cutoff wheel but you can use anything that will cut metal. Don't forget your PPE

Reassembly started, put the spring cup with the round hole on first and then drop the cylinder in the handle. The lock cylinder will only go in at the correct orientation of the key, horizontal, so don't worry about installing it wrong.

Next is the spring, I used my vise to hold the handle so I can compress the spring

Next is the other spring cup and the retaining ring, it only goes on in the correct orientation. You will need to compress the spring, I did it by pushing on the top spring cup and then using the snap ring to push it in the rest of the way. Make sure the snap ring sits in the groove and you're done!

Reinstall on the truck and bask in your new door locks. Mine didn't have the lock on the passenger side which made it a pain on dates

Hopefully somebody finds this useful
