Cold start idle

After starting the truck in the morning, if I touch the accelerator the idle will drop to normal (warm) idle no matter how cold it is out. It has been doing this for a few months......before, it would slowly come down as the truck began to warm up. Now it will come down to normal idle (700-800 rpm's) before it warms up and will darn near stall unless I baby the gas pedal. What is the most likely reason? Choke thermostat (coil) bad?
