Battery wiring

I’m sitting here thinking about finishing up my wiring and have gotten to the battery. As far as I know, the battery will have to run a large gauge wire to the starter and a smaller gauge wire from the alternator to the battery for charging purpose. Negative cable will go to chassis ground and another negative cable from engine to chassis also.

Does this sound correct? Also what size gauge wires should be used? Anything else needing to be fed from the battery?

Thanks in advance
