Throttle Cable bracket

My 72 Blazer with a manual 4 speed, had been fitted with an Edelbrock Intake and an Edelbrock 4bbl carb by the previous owner and ran fine until the engine needed rebuilding... Somewhere along the way, the bracket for the throttle cable came up missing. Now my mechanic (not the rebuilder) has the engine in but is at a loss to find a bracket to secure the throttle cable to the engine.
I would think that there are adaptable brackets that should work but one would think a mechanic would be able to figure that out. It's been a month with no luck and my blazer is still sitting in the shop. I've suggested he replace the throttle cable or any thing else that might work
Any ideas that would help me out? I'd appreciate any input to get it on the road before winter hits.
