if you can keep it to 2 steering joints you won't need any support bearing
the 3rd or 4th bearing adds a failure path to loose your steering or increase slop
55-9 trucks are made for sbc and wide enough between the rails to route the steering
on truk i can remove all the set screws in the u-joints and not loose my steering
i have to unbolt my steering column to remove a u-joint

fyi... my motor mounts come straight off the mustII cross member
no way to interfere with steering
