Cab floor - 1 piece vs. pieces. Opinions requested
I've been working on my '66 3/4 ton for longer than I can remember - too many projects and i go hot and cold on some of them as time available allows. Lately I'm back into this project and slowly making some progress.
The whole cab floor is shot. Maybe 10 years ago, or maybe more, I sat down with the catalog and ordered up just about everything I will need. Looks like some of the pieces actually overlap, depending on what area they are primarily for. So I'll have to be trimming some of them down for the right fit. I see LMC, and maybe others, now offers a 1-piece cab floor. Whether they didn't have it back then, or maybe they did and I missed it, I don't know. So my question for those who have done this job, would I be better off buying the 1-piece, and trying to sell off the various repair panels to recoup some of my cost? Or forget that and just start cutting, welding etc? I might add that I am a newbie at MIG welding, I've done some but I'm not going to be able to zip through the process like a veteran. I welcome opinions and suggestions (which I may or may not follow in the final decision ) Thank you! |
