I installed the carpet in the truck and cut the hole, then located the rubber piece over it and located the holes. I put four screws through the carpet to hold the piece in place. I pulled the carpet out and took it to the upholstery shop and they sewed it in. If you have the old carpet you could lay it over the new one and mark the hole with chalk.
