Car Shows + Other ?

Fall Fest came and went this weekend, its an annual show here in Pineville, LA. First year for me to go, and i saw some sweet rides. We got some famous vehicles around here, most noticeably the yellow Chevy that was on the cover of JEGS a while back (cue for someone to post a pic as i don't have one). You guys frequent car shows? Seen anything WAAAY out there?
Anyways, I was inspired to get Red the way i want. over the past month ive had a shift in goals. Instead of rod-style (2/4 drop, different wheels, wild color, etc), im gonna go for the stock kinda look; repaint it Factory Red after i do my bodywork, repaint the wheels white, keep the stock hubcaps, rebuild the OE 2barrel and just do basics to the motor, no crazy cam or mods, etc. Not only will this be cheaper, but its more practical to do the things the truck needs and have it come out right, rather than be both fixing and modding at the same time. What y'all think? Sound like a solid game plan? Im not going for Off-The-Floor stock, just real close, K.I.S.S. style. The good thing is, my dad never cut the truck up or did too many crazy mods to it, so i don't have to un-engineer anything i can think of.
