Engine problems...

Hello all. My name is John and I found this site while searching for parts for my newly aquired 1987 Chevy Silverado K10. My grandfather gave it to me as a gift, which I greatly appreciate.

However I have a problem with the engine. Whenever I'm driving it, weather the engine is cold or warmed up, the engine seems to bog down in 2nd gear. First gear has great torque, but when it shifts to second, it bog's down to the point where it almost stalls. Once I get off the gas and then ease back on, it eventually goes.

The engine is the 305ci V8 5.0L with TBI. I don't know if the TBI is acting up or what. I'm only 17 and I have a general knowledge of engines, but this baffle's me. Could there possibly be an air leak? Is it possible to clean the injectors on TBI engines? Any help is great. Thanks in advance.

PS- If anyone has any suggestions on performance upgrades to raise the HP some, I'm open to them. I already am planning on getting a cat-back dual exhaust system after christmas. I love the sound of those.
