lifter question

I developed a loud tick yesterday and pulled the valve cover today to find what I thought was a collapsed lifter. (rocker bolt was not loose)
To make a long story short, the lifter pumped up and now I can't get the rocker back on due to not being able to get the studs threads through the fulcrum so I can start the rocker bolt. Is the lifter going to stay pumped up or will it bleed back down. (1.5 roller rockers)
Sorry, I'm kinda inexperienced with these things but usually get by ok. Thanks for any help.
