Rebuilding the automatic shift column...

During my failed brakes experiment a couple of weeks ago my shifter on the column has gotten completely goofed up. I think I've taken this thing apart three times, and every time I think I have it together like it's supposed to only to have problems with it later.

This time it's so goofed up I can barely shift, and that's only if I have my foot on the dash and I'm using my body's leverage to make it shift. Kinda hard to do.

Anyway, does anyone have a good drawn-out idea how this shifter is SUPPOSED to go together??? Forget LMC's picture of the column in their catalog. That's what's gotten me in trouble in the first place. I need to know what parts go where and in what order. I don't want to have to take this thing apart again because it's not correct. I'll order whatever parts I need.
