I finally had few free hours to work my 1 ton this weekend. I have had it few weeks now, but have been too busy to touch it. I got out there Saturday, and put a set a 16" rims and tires I had laying around and got it running. This truck has been sitting since 1992, so needless to say it has some issues that need addressing. I changed out the gas tank and master cylinder with used stuff from a parts truck that was running a few months ago. I pulled the cap and rotor and filed the points, and the ol' 292 came right back to life!! I anticipated a carb change, but it actually ran pretty good after it ran awhile. It would need building if I were going to start driving everyday, but since I'm going with the diesel, I just wanted to see if I could get this engine running to get it mobile. I took it a quick little run up the road, and the 292 felt amazingly strong to have sat for so long. I'm sure those 5.14's in the Eaton rearend didn't have anything to do with it!!
