Lift kit vs Tire size

Got a 70 short bed that I want to put a 35 tires on. It seems as if lift kit web sites are telling me that I need 6 inch lift.
Unfortunatly I havent had much luck finding 6 inches of springs.. I really dont want to stick a body lift on the truck. A friend told me he used engery urithane suspention bushings with a 4 in and he fit 35s just fine.. but that was a 85 truck.

Anybody know if i can get away with a 4 inch lift with 35s?

I want bds suspention as they seem to have a real good product but they only come in 4 in for my year.
others make 6 in kits but they are just add a leafs and I really want all new springs...

anybody?
