Well I went and bought a fancy digtal timing light with advance feature and a tach built into make this easier. It was $85 but wife says Father's day is coming up so that will be my present LOL, can't beat that !!! I did finially get it to ping but I had to set the intial timing to 30 degrees, just kept turning it by hand out on the road. It actually ran ok, When I got back home, whew 30 degs thats way too mucking futch. Anyway, got it set now 12 initial, with 28 in the distributor, for 40 total all in by 3200 rpm. Add 18 deg for the vac can, hooked up full vacumn port(only one on 2bbl) and she runs like a champ for and old motor. Have about 28 degrees at 2000 which should be cruise rpm plus the vac can. Hope this info might help someone else...
