is parts parts?

I recieved a JC Whitney catalog in the mail...dunno how I got on there list, but her, it's fesh readin material for the crapper.
So there I was, and I'm clad I was on the can, becouse I woulda crapped myself. A tailgate (no letters) for 150 bucks.
So, my question here...are there more than one company makin these, or are they all the same. I know they say you get what yu pay for, but are parts parts, or is there an inferior gate made over the one LMC, Wess,Paul, Kingparts sells?
