Question Placement of Shifter Hole??

Hey guys,
I'm now ready to cut the hole in the High hump to install the Transfer Case shifter rod. ( Been running around in 2WD High with no shifter in the cab and SNOW is coming!) What I need is for one of you guys with a factory 67-72 AUTOMATIC, NP205, V8 to do me a big favor and look up from the bottom of the truck and/or take some closeup pics under there, to see just where the cut-out needs to be in relation to the shifter Boss (where the big bolt goes thru the shifter rod) on the transfer case. ( Maybe a pic with the lever in the Neutral position?) Since there's no hole there now, I'm trying to only cut the very minimum size hole to allow the shifter lever to operate. I don't know if the hole should be exactly above that Boss, or if it is off-set to the front or rear by some amount? I have a Factory shifter lever that has not been bent.

I know this sounds like a weird request, but my truck is the one that I installed the 4x4 700R4 which moved the Transfer case to the rear almost 2".
I just want to start from the underside of the truck and use a long 3/8 drill bit to poke a hole roughly in the center of where the opening should be and then gradually enlarge it with a jig saw from inside the cab. I have a new shifter boot, but never did find the steel ring to hold it down.

Thanks in advance to whomever can help out here,
