Swing away spare tire carrier for burb?
I was wondering if anyone has tried to mount a swing-away spare tire carrier on the back of a '67 - '72 suburban with enough clearance for barn doors. After a pretty good search on the net, it doesn't seem like there are to many options out there.
Here are a couple things that I did find: http://www.kenmtn.com/html/multi-carrier.asp (don't know if they make this to fit a '67 - '72 burb and it is very expensive at around $600+) http://www.rockstomper.com/catalog/pieces/hinge.htm (This might be a good start for making a custom carrier, but then you'd have to fabricate the rest?) My current setup has the spare mounted in a cage on the roof. It works, but I'm getting a little old to be doing the clean & jerk with a 35" tire and wheel every time I want get at my spare. If anyone has any ideas of how to get my spare mounted on the back of my burb, please share!
