Cool 71 Pick up, 3 speed converted to floor.

A beautiful friend of mine just picked up a 71 Chevy C10 that I get the pleasures of working on. This truck looks to have a 307 and a 3 speed, it was at one time a shift on the column truck. The last owners converted it to a floor shift deal with a cheap after market floor shifter. I am dealing with this as I go.

The question I have is when a guy does a conversion like this the shifter is directly in the way of the speedo cable. What can be done to get the cable to clear this cheap after market shifter?

I don't think I can talk her into converting it back to an on the column set up and I do not have any of the old parts or shift lever. I was told all is easy to find other then the lever. That said, I feel the only option is to make this floor shifter work.

Can any one help out this Chevy Newbie? Any suggestions or new ideas are welcome.
Thank you so much.
Rico
