flip kit

I have a 70 gmc swb and I recently bought a rolling chassis with a flip kit in it.the brackets that the leafsprings sit on look like the factory ones so my question is,do I need to weld these on and if so,should I measure up or down from the ones already welded to my stock rear end for a better pinion angle?or keep them at the same angle that it would be at stock?
