Transfer Case Torque Mount

OK, I bought a new NP205 for my TH400. I am very happy. Question. Has anyone used a torque rod instead of the Mount to the frame rail? The rod bolts up to the two holes on the side of the case then up to the bellhousing. I heard that it reduces alot of the vibration from the case. In order to use the rod the passenger side upper bracket of the crossmember must be eliminated. Does this sound OK. Will it weaken the member enough to worry?
