Rochester or Carter? 1967 G10 250cid
A good friend of mine needs a new carburetor for his '67 G10 van since we found that the Holley Economaster 1bbl had given up the ghost internally (accelerator plunger crumbling, metering rod fell out, vac leaks at the power valve, etc.) The local shops show a Rochester B or a Carter YF for the 250cid that year, anybody have an idea which would be better given that they both bolt up the same? The only option for a '68 would be the Rochester M and we could get that in a day from the warehouse.
About the van: He's had it 10 years, love's the thing. It's a primer black cargo van that has a 3" lift kit and huge tires with chrome bullet hub caps from a ?DeSoto. The guy who owned it for 20+ years before him modified everything, including the aftermarket carb, cruise control, guage panel, carpeting, sunroof, turboglide tranny, etc.
We hope to rebuild the Holley and keep it on hand for a later swap if the rebuilt stock carb doesn't hold up.
